Specialize in fashionable glasses, EYEVAN, a glass retailer announced that they will open up their new flagship store in Roppongi Midtown, 2018. The store is designed by the most momentum architects now, Kengo Kuma.
Kengo Kuma was introduced widely when the Japan Sport Council chose Kuma’s design for a main stadium of Tokyo Olympic 2020. He embodies communication between people and its community by choosing the wood for building materials. The Olympic stadium is planned to use tons of woods and so does a Roppoongi Midtown’s new store too.
In 72 square meter store area, Kengo Kuma produces the warm and contemporary look by using structural plywood for the floor, the wall and even for the ceiling. With a glimpse, it is recognizable that the store is designed by him.
“Eyewear is the ultimate small building because we are planning to make buildings smaller and smaller and bring the distance between the building and the body closer. I thought that it was a window connecting humans and the universe and expressed a big universe.
